Help for Katie
Donation protected
My daughter, Katie Duran, is an active 33 year old wife and mother of three, ages 7, 4 and 1, and is also the manager of a bridal/prom dress store. For months
she struggled with neck pain, visiting with chiropractors and medical doctors, who thought she was suffering from a pinched nerve. She became progressively weaker, her fingers became numb and she was unable to lift her arms. On June
24, the pain became so intense that she went to the ER, where a CT scan indicated an abnormality. She was sent immediately to the University of Nebraska Medical Center where an MRI indicated a rare type of brain tumor which also extended to her spine. A 10 hour surgery was performed on July 7. Since the surgery, Katie has been in the ICU. As of this writing, she has an EVD tube in, has difficulty swallowing so she has a feeding tube, and because of a damaged vocal cord, can only speak in a whisper. Because of Covid-19, she has been unable to have visitors before , during or after the surgery. Katie's husband Oscar started a new job on June 1, so they are uncertain how insurance will address the exorbitant costs of the surgery and treatment. She will go to a rehab center for acute care after she gains more strength. Any help you can give this young family will be greatly appreciated.
