Building Lives Project

Tax deductible
Who We Are:
The Lantern Center for Recovery is fully self-supporting 501(c) 3 non-profit that was established in 2010 and provides free long-term residential care for men that suffer from the disease of alcoholism and drug addiction.

What Is the Problem:
There has been a dramatic rise in opiate related overdose deaths in Cuyahoga County. According to the ADAMHS Board of Cuyahoga County heroin related overdose deaths have risen 488% since 2007. The epidemic is so severe in Cuyahoga County that the Medical Examiner says that it claimed the lives of over 514 people in 2016, more the double the 228 people that died in 2015. While these statistics are alarming resources to help are available.

How Can You Help:
The Lantern’s “Building Lives Project” is an expansion effort that increased our facilities capacity by 28 beds, helping to provide our community with the resources necessary to address the addiction epidemic that is devastating so many lives.

Addiction is powerful, and it is relentless, but it can be treated. Awareness, education and making resources readily available are critical for rehabilitation. Because drug and alcohol addicted individuals may be uncertain about entering treatment, taking advantage of available resources the moment people are ready for residential care is critical. However, the costs for treatment can be substantial with a 30-day stay at Glenbeigh approaching $15,000.

Unfortunately, many addicts and alcoholics have very little money and usually have no insurance when they ask for help. The Lantern believes everyone should have access to long-term care regardless of their ability to pay. In keeping with this philosophy we provide long-term residential care at absolutely no charge to our residents.

As such, we are asking for donations to help support our community investment as we strive to extend our hand to everyone who asks for the help which they all deserve.

Our residents would be very grateful for your support as they work toward regaining their sobriety, reuniting with their families and becoming contributing members of society. Your donation would make a huge impact in their lives. Again, we don not rely on government funding, rather the Lantern is fully supported through private donations and community support.

Every day the Lantern faces an overwhelming demand from men across the area that desperately need and want help.  The demand is so high that we cannot meet all the needs.  Our goal is to continue expanding so that we are able to help even more people.  We are very grateful to our contributors for working with us towards that goal.

On behalf of all the people that your donation would help we would like to give a heartfelt thank you.

Sincerely,

Tony Parker
Executive Director
