We need you to stand with us against hate!

We're asking you to help us raise £3,600  to provide a scholarship for an anti-hate campaigner at our next residential Bootcamp in October. Can you help us make this possible?!

We know that reports of hate crime have doubled in the last 5 years, and things are not getting any better. Our graduates say that they are driven by their experiences persecution and injustice to stand firmly against hate.

We're on a mission to support people run effective campaigns that challenge the injustice they face. Taking a stand against and fighting for a world without hate is important to us, and our alumni community. They voted to create a scholarship for an anti-hate campaigner, and we've listened. We now need you - help us make this possible?

Every donation makes a difference and brings us closer to being able to support a campaigner who might not otherwise have the opportunity. What’s more, a donor has said they will unlock $200K of funding over the next three years if we get enough people on board, so even a small donation could make a big difference!

Our graduates run important, successful campaigns, like sports campaigner and basketball coach, Asma Elbadawi, who attended our Bootcamp Residential in 2016.

Asma moved from Sudan to Bradford, West Yorkshire, when she was one. She was an avid basketball player and coach, but was confused as to why she never saw women like her playing professionally.

After doing some research she found out that the hijab was not allowed by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), which was therefore preventing religious women who wear the hijab from taking part in the sport at a professional level.

"I’d assumed that because I hadn’t seen sportswomen wearing hijabs on TV that there was something against it in our religion. I guess I’d assumed that women were expected to retain their modesty and playing sport didn’t align with that.”

She decided to start the #FIBAAllowHijab campaign, and started a petition that gathered over 133,000 supporters worldwide. Women like Indira Kaljo, a Bosnian-born American, who had been forced to give up competing when she started wearing a hijab reached out to Asma.

"We had so much support by the end. Almost 20 women from across the world were working in their own communities on this campaign. We all had media coverage in our own countries."

On 4th May 2017, the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) announced that they had approved a rule to give players the ability to wear religious headwear during the competition.

Asma has since returned to Bootcamp to talk to others
about how she used storytelling and skills gained at Campaign Bootcamp, dealing with online abuse and how her and a group of basketball players got FIBA to overturn the Hijab ban in professional basketball.

Help someone like Asma!
We prioritise marginalised people and communities, and work hard to make sure that our training is accessible to those who need it.
A scholarship can cover costs such as accommodation, travel, training, food and make provision for access requirements, and give someone an opportunity they might not have otherwise.

Campaign Bootcamp helped give Asma the skills and tools she needed to be successful in her campaign. Will you support an anti-hate campaigner like her? Donate just £10 today to help make it possible!

Thank you for your support!
