Getting Eric a new Heart & Kidney transplant

Donation protected
I just want to post a backstory as to why Eric is currently awaiting a heart/kidney transplant.. Please Share!! ❤️ As some of you may know Eric went to Bayhealth ED in November 2019 for shortness of breath, fatigued, not being able to produce urine and a couple of other things.. Eric ended up being told that he was in Kindey Failure (ESRD) and would need to be transferred to Jefferson University where they would begin emergency dialysis. This was a shock to all of us. A 19 year old being told they would need to recieve a kidney transplant to be able to live a normal life again. Eric was being seen at Christiana for his kidney transplant. From 2019 until recently we were constantly looking for a kidney donor or hoping we would find a match. In the beginning of 2023 we had found out Eric’s ejection fraction (EF) was only 15-20%. Basically stating that his heart was not pumping enough blood the way it is suppose to.. A normal EF is 50-70% and his was only 15-20%.. Eric went for a right heart cath in April at Bayhealth and was sent home. We were told he would need to get a defibrillator put in to shock his heart back into a normal rhythm. The end of July Christiana referred us to UPenn because they had said Eric’s heart was to weak to even think of doing a kidney transplant. We went for Eric’s appointment at Upenn and we were told that we are lucky they do not admit him off his numbers Bayhealth had in their system. Eric was in cardiogenic shock (which is where his heart isn’t pumping enough blood to the rest of his organs) and we never knew because we were never gave those answers. Eric was suppose to go for the placement of his difibrillator and was told by UPenn we were lucky we saw them when we did because they were cancelling that surgery. They told Eric that if he had went under for his procedure he may have not woken back up. We were told to come back August 1st for another cardiac cath to make sure the numbers Bayhealth had were correct. August 1st we went for the cardiac cath and the numbers were still around the same.. From there on Eric was being admitted and would be admitted until he received a new heart and kidney. We were shocked because Eric is only 23 and being told that he needs all these things.. We really ask for everyone to continue to pray for Eric and us as we go through all of this.. As many know Eric will not be able to work for 6-12 months after surgery as he has to fully recover and can’t run the risk of getting sick. I am going to be taking care of Eric full time as he needs a full time caregiver for the first few months as well as taken care of Maverick and Layla. We want to thank everyone for everything they’ve done and continue to do for us. ❤️ *an allstar athlete* ❤️
