Yawanawá Flood Emergency Appeal
Don protégé
Hello friends.
We are fundraising for the Yawanawá Indigenous community in the Amazon.
The Yawanawá are a community of 1200 people who protect an area of over 250,000 hectares of Amazon rainforest in the state of Acre, close to the border with Bolivia and Peru.
Yesterday they experienced devastating flooding, which has wiped out their homes, boats, clothes, livestock, crops and food sources.
The rainy season traditionally is November - January and this kind of flooding, following the devastating droughts in November, is a heartbreaking example of the impacts of climate change on communities in the global south who have played no part in causing climate change.
They desperately need emergency funding for food, fuel and tools to repair and rebuild their homes and plantations.
These communities are protecting our most precious remaining biodiversity so it’s crucial that we support them.
Please join us and give what you can. 100% of proceeds will go directly to the Yawanawá Socio Cultural Association (ASCY) in the Amazon. This fundraiser has been organised by #TOGETHERBAND and Tribal Link who have long standing partnerships with the Yawanawá people.
