Yasmine and Priyanka's Nursing Elective in Ghana

Hi! I'm Priyanka, and I work as a Registered Nurse in London. My friend Yasmine is also a Registered Nurse working with Southern Health NHS.

Yas and I, would like to experience this once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in a voluntary 3-week elective in Ghana in April 2024.

We are partnering with Work the World for this journey, which will involve working in various specialised areas such as emergency care, intensive care and community healthcare. We will also collaborate with healthcare professionals in Ghana, learning how to provide care with limited resources.

We cannot wait to gain experience and immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of Ghana. These three weeks will open our eyes and help us appreciate the resources we have as nurses in the UK.

Unfortunately, we couldn't make this happen when we were student nurses due to COVID. But now, as qualified nurses, we have decided to self-fund this experience ourselves.

We would be very grateful for any donations which will contribute towards funding the Work the World for accommodation, food, flights and them arranging the elective areas we will be working in.

It is not just about our personal growth; we see it as a way to give back to the world and gain insight into healthcare in a less privileged country whilst expanding our clinical knowledge and skills.
