Yashoda Needs Our Help

Donation protected

For more than forty years, Yashoda has been a profound and constant source of love and compassion on Kashi Ashram. She's spent decades sharing her life with her gurubai and serving all those who've passed though the doors of Kashi.

Yahsoda's life is devoted to the teachings of Ma Jaya and she has spread kindness and gratitude everyhwere she's gone.

She's been a spirtual and emotional pilllar of Kashi and now she needs our help.

This October, Yashoda was diagnosed with Stage 3B Melanoma following a series of medical procedures including biopsies and surgery to remove a large mass in her lower left leg

Here's the good news: the melanoma has not spread into any organs and her PET scan and MRI were clear. At that time she had NO more tumor masses!!

Here's the not-so-great news: This November, an irregularity was discovered in her latest ultrasound. The discovery was made by her Oncology team at Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa.

She will be returning to Tampa for a biopsy and further testing following the discovery of this latest irregularity.

We know that cancer is a microscopic and systemic condition and even the best detection technology can't unmask all cancer cells.

In our attempt to be proactive, and for Yashoda to remain cancer free, she's engaged with a number of integrative practitioners and both traditional and holistic approaches.

"Grandma Shody has always been the rock and foundation of our family.
I can't remember a time in my life where my grandmother wasn't an integral part of it. I'm so grateful to have had a loving, compassionate and honest woman to always be there in all my ups and downs. My most vivid memories of my grandmother was when I was fighting my own battle with cancer. There was never a moment when she wasn't tirelessly working to do everything and anything to make my life easier or more comfortable. "

"Unfortunately, these tables have turned and Yashoda is fighting her own battle with cancer. It pains me to know we now have to suit up and battle with another loved one's fight with this horrible disease. It's times like these that I'm so grateful for our community - I know each of you are putting on your battle suits with us, and the support and love will make this challenge less daunting. I know with everyone's help, Grandma Shody will come out of this fight victorious. She's always kept us true and honest and will remain to be our moral and emotional compass pointing us in the right direction for many more years to come."

In addition to regular check ups and expert monitoring with Moffit's oncology team, we're also looking at as many approaches possible in our fight to keep Yashoda cancer-free.

Here's what we need from you:
We need to raise funds for medical services and copays not covered by insurance. As you know, healthcare in the U.S. doesn't always put the patient's needs ahead of profit, which explains why we're using a crowdfunding site to raise resources.

Here's how the funds will be utilized:

Consultations with Integrative Health Practitioners not covered by insurance

Nutritional supplements

Organic and special high-quality, nutrient-dense foods

Travel to and from Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa

Potential international travel for more aggressive forms  of treatment

Yashoda is a mother, sister,  grandmother,  great-grandmother, chela, and a gurubai to all of us.

We're asking for help in any way we can.
Thank you and namaste.
