Help! Hurricane Maria blew my home

Hello, my name is  Yarimar Ramos and I live in Puerto Rico. Two years ago I moved into my childhood home.  My Dad and I spend time remodeling and putting it up to date.  I was happy with how it looked.   For the first time I had a home of my own.  I  loved that it had so many memories of my childhood and I was ready to make new ones. 

On September 18, 2017 we knew that hurricane Maria was going to hit Puerto Rico.  My dad helped me put safety boards and tension cables to safeguard the house, as best as we could.  I left to my parents house with my heart broken hoping for the best.  But Maria hit category 5, something we have never seen or experienced before.  On September 20, hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico and destroyed my home leaving me homeless. 

My God, this was like being in an apocalyptic movie.  I'm still in shock.   I've never expected to see my house destroyed like this. I knew she would take a beating but it hurt even worse to see it gone.  Arriving and seeing such devastation is horrible. Maria has destroyed so much.  It not only destroyed my home but also shattered my dreams. 

I still believe that things happen for a reason and good comes to those who believe in good.  I know I will be victorious, it is the only thing that I can think and feel because giving up is not an option.  Thank you God for all those little angels you sent to help me through this. There is still a long way to go, but I know that better things will come.

If you feel you want to donate to  fund relief organizations for assisting Puerto Rico, I urge you to do so, because there is great need.  If you prefer to donate to an especific person or situation, I ask of you to please be one of my angels and help me rebuild my home but this time a concrete home, a safer home.

Hola, mi nombre es Yarimar Ramos y vivo en Puerto Rico. Hace dos años me mudé a la casa de mi infancia. Mi papá y yo pasamos tiempo remodelando y actualizandola. Estaba bien feliz con cómo se veía. Por primera vez tuve mi propio hogar. Me encantó que tuviera tantos recuerdos de mi infancia y estaba lista para crear nuevas historias.

El 18 de septiembre de 2017, sabíamos que el huracán María iba a golpear a Puerto Rico. Mi padre me ayudó a colocar tablas de seguridad y cables de tensión para proteger la casa lo mejor que pudimos. Me fui a casa de mis padres con el corazón roto esperando lo mejor. Pero María llegó a la categoría 5, algo que nunca antes habíamos visto o experimentado.  El 20 de septiembre, el huracán María devastó Puerto Rico y destruyó mi casa dejándome sin hogar.

Dios mío, esto era como estar en una película apocalíptica. Todavía estoy en shock. Nunca esperé ver mi casa destruida así. Sabía que recibiría mucho daño, pero dolío aún más ver que se había ido. Llegar y ver tanta devastación es horrible. María ha destruido tanto. No solo destruyó mi hogar sino que también destruyó mis sueños.

Todavía creo que las cosas suceden por una razón y el bien llega a aquellos que creen en el bien. Sé que voy a salir victoriosa, es lo único que puedo pensar y sentir porque quitarme no es una opción. Gracias Dios por todos esos angelitos que enviaste para ayudarme a superar esto. Todavía hay un largo camino por recorrer, pero sé que vendrán cosas mejores.

Si siente que desea donar para financiar organizaciones de ayuda para Puerto Rico, le insto a que lo haga, porque hay una gran necesidad. Si prefiere donar a una persona o situación específica, le pido que sea uno de mis ángeles y me ayude a reconstruir mi hogar, pero esta vez un hogar de concreto, un hogar más seguro.
