Hello, this is my sister, Yaraset. She is 21 years old. She has been hospitalized since January. She was taken to DRMC due to high fevers which a couple of days later led her to an early delivery at 23 weeks of gestation. Still grieving from delivering her still born baby, she had to under go many medical procedures in attempt to get a diagnosis. Apparently this hospital had never had a case like hers and would only assume many things but never an accurate diagnosis. She then was transferred to Keck Hospital of USC in Los Ángeles, California where within two days of being admitted she had to be placed into a medical induced coma due to multiple organ failure and internal hemorrhage. She remained in the medical induced coma for about a week until doctors diagnosed and proceeded treatment. She was diagnosed with two very rare diseases, the first was Adult STILL disease. It is a rare illness that causes high fevers, rashes, and joint pain and if untreated quick may lead to long-term (chronic) arthritis. The second was HEMOPHAGOCYTIC LYMPHOHISTIOCYTOSIS (HLH) an immune deficiency disorder where the body can’t fight infections as it should in which Those hystiosytes become overactive and begin to attack the body’s own tissues and organs. This disease can be fatal unless treated with chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. She is now undergoing chemotherapy, dialysis, and blood and platelet transfusions And eventually will be receiving a bone marrow transplant in June or July according to her doctors. Which means she will remain in the hospital for months to come for the transplant and recovery. For these reasons, we ask for your support today; whether it is financially, keeping her in your prayers or sharing this post. All contributions will be used for treatments, medications, and medical procedures needed to help Yaraset recover. Thank you for reading and for your support. God bless.
