Yalonda Teresa Gill Masundire was born December 28, 1966 in Seattle, Washington and died peacefully at her home in Chuluota, Florida on June 27, 2019. following a 6 year battle with colon cancer.
In life, Yalonda had a passion for the people of Southern Africa and one of her dreams and goals was to start a Boys and Girls Club network in Botswana, based on the Boys and Girls Club of America model. Her ultimate goal was to be a catalyst for cultural exchanges between youths participating in Boys and Girls Clubs in her community and those in Botswana and South Africa.
In addition, Yalonda and I, were planning to raise funds to repair two bridges in Govere Village in Chivhu, Zimbabwe, where I come from, that were damaged during the Cyclone Idai in March 2019.
In remembrance of Yalonda's life, I pledge to continue working on these two projects to ensure that Yalonda's efforts will not be in vain and that her dream will come true.
Listen to Yalonda explain the origin of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Botswana concept.
