On June 30th Lorna had a brain bleed that she thought was a migraine while vacationing on Mackinac Island. On July 2nd she was sent from Mackinac island by ambulance, to Petoskey for a CT/MRI and then to Flint McLaren Hospital for more tests. They did an angiogram the next morning and the brain was so swollen and there was so much blood they could not determine where the bleed was coming from. So they said they would monitor her in th ICU for about 7-10 days and do the procedure again.

During the next couple of days her breathing got worse and she was requrired to receive oxygen through a mask. After a couple of chest X-rays, it was determined that she must have aspirated during the bleeding event and her lungs were beginning to become compromised. After some deliberation, she was intubated and put on a ventilator to control her breathing.

Her lungs were not getting better and her kidneys started to get worse on the morning of July 8th, so they decided to airlift her to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. It was here that they determined that she had a very serious case of ARDS (Acute Respritory Distress Syndrome). The doctor said she was in critically serious condition and would have to receive extensive care to treat the lungs. While she is on the parylitics to sedate her, they had to put a monitor in her brain to check her pressures, seeing they cannot do the exams.

As everyone knows, Lorna is a fighter and we are hoping she can pull through this as quickly as possible.
