Fire Disaster Recovery

I am fundraising to help my mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in law recover from a devastating fire disaster that occurred on 8/18/2020 in Vacaville, CA. They were forced to flee their homes in the evening as wildfire overtook the property where both of there homes once stood. They were able to escape, but left with no belongings as there was no time to pack. There had been no warnings issued for evacuation in their area when they went to bed.

They are lucky to have family in the area. At the end of the long day following the evacuation, they were able to briefly return to their homes. When they arrived, their homes were gone. Only ash and embers remained. The scene of what became of their homes was a harsh reminder of how lucky they were have escaped with their lives. As the gravity of the situation sets in, they have no choice but to look forward, and take each day as it comes.

Still wearing the clothes they were wearing the night before, they started with a new toothbrush and package of underwear for each of them. The very basic things to feel a sense of normal.  Not to sound too dramatic, but they are a family with no possessions, no basic essential items that we all take for granted.

We are respectfully asking for you to offer them a small measure of support as they get back on their feet as they face the challenge of assessing the next steps, and how to rebuild two homes. They have their health, they have their family, children still have their parents, and parents still have their children. They are thankful. Thanks for reading.
