The Blood Fund
It's taken me nearly 20 years but I am once again running to support the treatment and care of people with leukaemia and other blood disorders! This time just a little bit further...
On 26th March I will be running the Hampton Court Half Marathon to raise money to support The Blood Fund of The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The Blood Fund supports the haematology department at Hammersmith Hospital, which cares for people with a range of serious, and often life-threatening, blood disorders including Leukaemia, Lymphoma, Myeloma, Sickle cell disease and Haemophilia.
With my mum having worked in the department all my life, I have seen first-hand the fantastic treatment, care and cutting-edge research provided by the hospital and its fantastic staff.
All money raised will help provide vital funding to ensure the team can continue to provide exceptional care to its patients, through:
- Enabling patients to access clinical trials to help us improve our understanding and management of these complex conditions.
- Increasing the number of specialist nurses who provide an invaluable role in supporting patients and facilitating trials.
- Supporting important research, including that of young doctors and scientists early in their careers.
- Improving the patient experience by making waiting rooms more comfortable.
Thank you for your support!
