Support for Gene

On December 2nd 2020, around 2:30am, a fire broke out in the basement of Cynthia and Richard’s home where Gene Spurzem was staying. He was unable to escape the fire, and was found unconscious and unresponsive in his bed when EMS arrived. Fire fighters had to break into the house and pull him out through the window to retrieve him. They performed CPR for about 20 minutes until a slight pulse was found, and then performed another 10 minutes of CPR enroute to the hospital because his pulse was lost. They estimated that he had no oxygen to his brain for about 30 minutes, if not longer. He is currently in the ICU at Hennepin county hospital. He is intubated and in critical condition. We are awaiting further information on his condition, recovery, and outcome this will have on him. Cynthia and Richard thankfully made it out okay, but their house is a total loss and everything in the house has been destroyed. We are asking for everyone’s prayers during this difficult time. It will be a long road to recovery for Gene, as he is not out of the dark yet. Any little bit of help is much appreciated. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and assistance.
