Jonathan's Seminary Fund

My name is Jonathan Hoyt, and I am currently attending seminary at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA.  Over the course of my time as an undergraduate, I felt a growing desire to be involved in some area of ministry serving high school or college age students.  After experiencing my own spiritual growth in college I wanted to give back to others going through those four years, with all the struggles and opportunities they provide.  As I felt God guiding me towards ministry, specifically lay ministry, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to visit Trinity with him, and on a whim I said yes.  Once I arrived at the school, I immediately felt at home!  I loved both the academic program, and the community among the students, and I could tell that God had specifically led me to that place.  This past Spring I enrolled at Trinity School for Ministry studying Christian History and Theology.  Trinity focuses on preparing their students for missions, whether that be international mission work, or local service, and for serving the church as a member of the body of Christ, in community with others.  The academic course load is rigorous, but the professors make an exceptional effort to teach their students how to use all that they learn to serve others and to praise God.

Once I finish my degree at Trinity, I plan on pursuing graduate studies in Chemistry, my major in college, in order to be a college professor.  This was the original goal of my undergraduate studies - and what better way to minister to students than as a professor!  During my time in college, I saw how much of an influence my professors had the chance to be for their students, myself included.  Because of God’s guidance, my original plan turned out to be an excellent means of working with and supporting the students I will have as a professor.  However, in order to be prepared for this, I need to finish my seminary training at Trinity.

And this is where I need your help!  Trinity has graciously provided me with a full-tuition scholarship, but I still need to cover living expenses.  Some of the work I have had up to this point includes working at a camp over the summer, which was both incredibly challenging and incredibly rewarding, as I had the chance to encourage kids to grow in their faith, and possibly change their lives.  This coming academic year I also have the wonderful opportunity to teach high school Chemistry and Algebra at a homeschool co-op in the area.  However, as a full-time student I am unable to work enough to cover my expenses while keeping up with my course work, and so I am asking for your support in two ways.  The first is through your financial support.  My living expenses come to approximately $1000 a month, or $10,000 for an entire academic year.  Any donation you could give would be greatly appreciated, and if 200 people give just $50, my goal of $10,000 would be met completely!  The second way in which you can support me is prayer.  Please pray that God would provide for me during my time in seminary, both financially and spiritually.  And please pray that God would grant me the ongoing zeal to further my studies for his sake.

Thank you so much for your time in reading this, and for any support you can provide!  For those who are interested, I have attached links to some of the work I have done at seminary up to this point.
