Revved up for Charlotte! Democratic National Convention 2012

I was HONORED and ECSTATIC to receive notification from the CA Democratic Party last month that I was confirmed as a member of the largest and most diverse delegation to the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte North Carolina as an At-Large Delegate. This means I have the distinct honor of being a member of a national Democratic team that will nominate the President and commit to working toward his re-election in November. 

Additionally, this opportunity allows me to represent the voice of Latino Americans in politics and bring forth key issues such as immigration reform, access to healthcare and affordable education.  For over a decade as a community leader, I have been committed to spear-heading action campaigns to address the social and economic injustices of our society and those that threaten the future of our youth.   As a single mother of three, this opportunity allows me to model the importance of civic engagement to my children and express the urgency around stepping up and being heard.  My goal as a Delegate is to lead in important dialogue, collaborate with delegates nationwide to focus on key party issues and support the re-election of President Obama.  

BUT, I need your help to bring my voice and participation to Charlotte in 2012 and impact change from within!  I am raising money for travel, food and lodging expenses in the amount of:

$600 for round trip airfare

$125 for ground transportation

$1200 for 5 nights hotel accommodations

$300 for food x 5 days

$275 for misc. convention exepnses

$2500 CHARLOTTE 2012
