Leo's Medical Fund

Donation protected

My dog Leo is very sick. We took him in for an unexpected, after-hours veterinarian visit on Thursday evening (7/27). During this visit we discovered that he had a high-fever, along with a low red blood cell and platelet count. This is either the result of 1) a tick-bite related illness, or 2) an auto-immune system blood disorder known as Evan's syndrome (combination of IMHA and ITP).

We went to the vet again on Saturday (7/29) and Leo did not show signs of improvement. Leo's temperature had returned to normal, but his Red-Blood Cell count had decreased further.

Today, Monday (7/31), we took him in for a final vet visit. Leo's bloodwork revealed that he had a heart-rate of 160 beats per minute and 25% of the red-blood cells that a normal dog would have.

Given this information, we rushed Leo to NC State's Veterinary Hospital. The doctor has given Leo an IV, some additional steroids and his first round of a blood transfusion. Leo will be housed at the hospital for several days. We still are looking for the definite cause of this illness.

Unfortunately this hospital visit has incurred a $5000 bill. While I have made preparations to have this sum financed over time, I am taking donations to assist with this financial boundary. Anything from a dime to a dollar is extremely appreciated. My buddy Leo sends his thanks as well.

All funds raised will be going towards the balance incurred at NC State's Veterinary Hospital.

Thank you for your consideration! Please keep Leo in your thoughts and prayers. I really cannot afford to lose him as a companion. I will continue to post updates regarding his health.
