As many of you know, at the end of 2017, Jen was diagnosed with breast cancer. Since receiving her diagnosis, Jen has taken on the challenge of overcoming this obstacle with full force. A lot has happened in a short time frame and over the course of the last few weeks, she has learned much about her condition and the options in front of her.
She is being treated at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, which is great distance from her family back in Ottawa. She has recently elected to take part in a clinical trial for the next 16 months or so and will be travelling regularly back to PMH to receive treatment. She will also be undergoing chemotherapy during this time, which will require that she travel by train, as she will not be able to drive.
Many have asked how they can help. What Jen and Mike need most is human help - meals prepared, errands run, etc. But for friends that are farther away, who can't do that, we thought we would set up this page so that we can contribute to the rising costs they are incurring.
Not only is it difficult for Jen to be away from her children, it is expensive for her to travel back and forth and incur additional child care costs so that Mike can continue to work. So if you are unable to lend a hand, please consider contributing here to help ease some the burden this remarkable woman and her family are enduring.
