Mom's Funeral Service

Donation protected
A hero, an idol, a mentor, a best friend, I am sure that in our lives we have all had one or more of these. And, there is a good chance that in one way or another, we have also lost one of these. Today I mourn the loss of all of these at the same time. I was fortunate enough to have these people be the same person, and it just so happened I called her mom, and today she is in a better place where she can’t hurt anymore after losing her life to pancreatic cancer. Once in a lifetime, if we are lucky, someone comes along that redefines what it is to be kind, or selfless, or at its most pure form just a good person. For “25” years I got a front row ticket to watch the most selfless and loving person I have ever known share her light and joy and compassion with the world. Whether it was feeding the homeless every weekend. Or, going weeks without a penny to her name so that someone could experience something that brought them joy. Perhaps the most impressive of all was how every holiday no matter how far back I look, she would always find a way to not only make miracles happen for us, but for anyone who didn’t have a place to be that year. Year after year I watched these acts of kindness and selflessness. It didn’t matter who it was, she never turned anyone away. I would often ask her why she would make such sacrifices for people who she either didn’t know or didn’t care about themselves enough to sacrifice themselves. She would reply “at the end of the day I have to look at myself in the mirror, that is who I have to be ok with not them.” My mother dedicated her life to making this world a better place. She loved fiercely, gave freely, and left this world too soon, but much better than she found it. Today we are setting up a gofundme account to help cover funeral expenses. So, if you have ever been touched by the generosity of my hero, or ever had the pleasure of enjoying one of the thousands of meals she lovingly cooked for anyone who was ever hungry, or have ever known someone who redefined what it was to be kind, we are asking for your help. My mother made her life about helping others, please help us honor her memory with your acts of kindness. Thank you all, and God Bless each and every one of you who read this.
