Otto’s ACL surgery

Background:

As some of you may remember, Otto had a surgery last year called TPLO on his left leg after he tore his ACL on that side while running. I was able to get him that surgery because of the help of many loving supporters, for which we have been so grateful. Thank you all so much for helping us get that surgery. After that occurred, I reached out to several pet insurance companies (which I naively didn’t know was an option until his first ACL tear), and found that no one would cover another ACL tear if he already had one. Because of the lack of insurance I had been really careful with him to try to prevent any issues on the other leg: stopped taking him with me everywhere and stopped long hikes, quit playing frisbee and ball, and didn’t have him around other large dogs.

Current situation: 

Unfortunately, despite my best efforts, Otto has now completely torn his other ACL. I was housesitting recently in a house with two large dogs, and planned to keep Otto separated from them for safety. They got into the same space as him accidentally and jumped on Otto, causing him to fully tear his right ACL. The repair TPLO surgery is about $6,500. The family I was housesitting for is willing to contribute $2k to surgery costs, which leaves a difference of $4,500 needed for Otto to have quality of life. He is currently in pain and isn’t able to use his right leg at all. 

Ask:

I am humbly asking for your help so that Otto can get the surgery he needs so he can walk. This amount of $4,500 doesn’t include the time I’ll have to take off work, pain meds, follow up visits, etc. but ANYTHING that you can donate is appreciated.
