To know Scotty is to love Scotty. There's not a person who has met him that hasn't been touched by his kind and loving heart, his humor and spirit for life and his love and devotion to his family. We are all just heartbroken with the news that he has a rare, incurable cancer that has spread to his chest and lungs. While not curable, the family is hoping that it can be managed.
Scotty is being treated at Cancer Centers of America in Phoenix and through immunotherapy testing he has matched positive for a drug that has been successful in shrinking lung cancer. Since Scotty does not quit, he is gearing up for an epic battle. Surgery and Radiation are no longer options because of the location of the tumor and the way it has already spread. The doctors are concerned that surgery will make the cancer spread and it will be in too many areas to control and that radiation therapy will damage and adversely affect the quality of life he has left. He will soon start immunotherapy treatments in hope to shrink the tumors and prevent further spreading. Our hope and prayer is that this will give Scotty many more years with his family and time to continue blessing our lives. We know God is big and HE can do amazing things. Holding on to that Scotty is ready to lean on his faith and face this giant.
This will not be easy and he will need to fight to continue his life. At times he won't be able to work. He will have to be away from his home and his family. He's going to get sick and have some serious side affects. Only God knows the journey but we want to keep stress and anxiety from Scotty and allow him to focus on healing. With Scotty's loss of income and the overwhelming medical, everyday living expenses and much expected travel expenses our hopes are to financially ease some of the burden that lie ahead of our beloved Betancourt family. Brazi, Lauren, Jenna and most importantly Francine's support are all going to be crucial to keeping Scotty's spirits up. He will need them to be with him as much as they possibly can.
More than all else we ask that you please pray for a complete healing and for Scotty to be given many more years on this earth. Pray for him and the Betancourt family to feel peace and to feel God's presence and for His light to shine for them during the dark days ahead. If you would like to contribute to the fund to support Scotty it will be so very appreciated but above all else PRAY and let Scotty feel the love of his friends that he needs so much right now.
