Save Pablo

Hi, my name is Cristyn, and I'm fundraising to help with vets' bills needed for saving our beloved Pablo.

We adopted Pablo and his sister Frida 1.5 years ago as kittens while living on Jeju Island in South Korea. They are an indescribably important part of our family, bringing joy to us all. Pablo, in particular, has an extraordinarily close bond with our 7-year-old daughter, Josie.

On August 4th, 2022, we received the devastating news that Pablo was diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis (Feline Coronavirus). His quick diagnosis was thanks to the instincts of the highly trained staff at Cat Island Cat Hotel in Seoul, where Pablo was staying while we travelled to the UK.

We are having to learn quickly about FIP and make instant life-or-death decisions about Pablo's treatment. Previously a death sentence, some groundbreaking new medicines are available that treat FIP and these are widely reported to have much success. However, these drugs are hard to get hold of, and we are lucky that Pablo's vet in Korea acted fast and was able to source some.

Although Pablo likely contracted FIP when he was younger, some cats can fight off the virus easily, but in other cats, it mutates and slowly has terrible degenerative effects. Previously, FIP was invariably fatal, but we are very hopeful that Pablo can survive and lead a normal life with us.

On July 5th, 2022, we delivered Pablo and Frida to a cat hotel in Seoul while we returned to the UK to visit family before all relocating to our new home in Dubai. Pablo and Frida are already booked on a flight from Seoul to Dubai on August 18th, 2022.

Pablo is currently under 24-hour veterinary care in Seoul. So far, he has undergone two blood transfusions with rare type B feline blood. Pablo has received three days' worth of oral GS 441524 medication, and the vet has now been able to source a version that can be injected. The course of injections lasts for 12 weeks. Everything is made so much more challenging because we are currently in the UK and Pablo is in Seoul - we need to account for time differences and translation, all of which slow up the rapid decisions we need to make.

Complicating Pablo's case is the fact that we need to try and get him to Dubai for the rest of his treatment. Should the vet in Korea advise that Pablo is too weak and needs to continue treatment there without risking the long journey to us, then we will need to try to fund a separate flight for Pablo at the end of his treatment. An additional flight would mean not only the cost of the ticket but much additional paperwork on each end, on top of the unprecedented medication costs and veterinary bills we are now facing. We are keeping everything crossed that Pablo will be strong enough to travel to Dubai with his sister on August 18th, where volunteers on the ground are sourcing the rest of his 12-week course of GS 441524.

We don't want to give up. We believe Pablo can get through this and see us again in our new home. The worst possible outcome would be that we have no choice but to stop Pablo's treatment for financial reasons. Therefore, it is with great humility that I set up this crowdfunding, knowing that every little contribution would greatly help us at this time.

그렇다 할지라도 Pablo는 어렸을 때 FIP에 감염되었을 가능성도 있고 일부의 고양이는 바이러스와 쉽게 싸울 수도 있습니다. 그리고 어떤 고양이에서는 돌연변이를 일으켜 천천히 끔찍한 퇴행성 영향을 미칩니다. 이전에는 FIP가 항상 치명적이었지만 Pablo가 우리와 함께 생존하고 정상적인 삶을 영위 할 수 있기를 간절히 희망하고 있습니다.

2022년 7월 5일, 우리는 두바이의 새 집으로 이사하기 전에 가족을 방문하기 위해 영국으로 돌아가는 동안 서울에 있는 고양이 호텔에 파블로와 프리다를 머물도록 했습니다. 그리고 파블로와 프리다는 2022년 8월 18일 서울발 두바이행 항공편이 이미 예약되어 있습니다.

파블로는 현재 서울에서 24시간 동물병원 진료를 받고 있습니다. 지금까지 파블로는 희귀 B형 고양이 혈액으로 두 차례 수혈을 받았습니다. Pablo는 3일치의 경구 약을 받았고 이제 수의사 선생님께서 주사제를 복막염 치료로 시작하게 되었습니다. 주사 과정은 12주 동안 지속됩니다. 하지만 우리는 현재 영국에 있고 Pablo는 서울에 있기 때문에 모든 것이 훨씬 더 어려워집니다. 그리고 시차와 번역을 고려해야 하기 때문에 빠른 결정을 내리는 데 시간이 걸립니다.

Pablo의 경우를 복잡하게 만드는 것은 나머지 치료를 위해 그를 두바이로 데려가려고 노력해야 한다는 사실입니다. 한국의 수의사가 Pablo가 너무 약해서 우리에게 긴 여정을 위험 없이 그곳에서 치료를 계속해야 한다고 조언한다면, 우리는 Pablo의 치료가 끝날 때 별도의 비행 자금을 마련해야 할 것입니다. 추가 비행은 티켓 비용뿐만 아니라 양쪽 나라에서 더 많은 추가 서류 작업을 의미하며 현재 우리가 직면하고 있는 전례 없는 약물 비용과 수의학 비용을 의미합니다. 우리는 Pablo가 8월 18일에 여동생과 함께 두바이로 여행할 수 있을 만큼 충분히 강해질 수 있도록 모든 힘을 다해 노력하고 있습니다. 두바이에서도 역시 나머지 12주 과정을 잘 마무리 할수 있도록 최선으로 준비 중에 있습니다.

우리는 포기하고 싶지 않습니다. 우리는 Pablo가 이것을 극복하고 새로운 집에서 우리를 다시 볼 수 있다고 간절히 믿습니다. 최악의 결과는 재정적인 이유로 파블로의 치료를 중단할 수밖에 없다는 것입니다. 그래서 지금 이 시기에 작은 기부가 큰 도움이 될 거라는 생각에 겸손하게 이 크라우드 펀딩을 시작하게 되었습니다. 부디 파블로를 살리수 있도록 도와주세요.
