Xiphos Takes on World of Dance

We are Xiphos Corps. A dance community from Indianapolis, Indiana that was officially established back in August of 2016. And we have a dream to take our growing community to World of Dance Chicago.
World of Dance
World of Dance (WOD) began in 2008 as a platform for dancers, musicians, and designers. It is the original, most trusted, and fastest growing dance and music entertainment brand in the world. But more importantly, they are a platform for talent. World of Dance has recently gained a lot of publicity amongst the general populace due to the NBC TV show. However, as mentioned earlier, WOD has been around for several years. The “traditional” WOD platform looks a bit like this: WOD will host a competition, cypher, and showcase in cities all over the US throughout the year. This year WOD is coming to Chicago on November 12, 2017 at the Copernicus Center. Xiphos Corps wants to participate in the competition portion of the event. Our organization has been discussing this opportunity since 2016.
On November 13th, 2016 we took a group of about 13 dancers to go watch WOD and it truly was an eye opening and life changing experience for a lot of our dancers. It has been a dream for many of ours to also participate and compete in WOD. Competing in WOD would not only allow our dancers to gain a once in a lifetime experience, but it would spur on the dance community in the Midwest as well.
Currently Indianapolis is a bit of a “dance desert” meaning not many international choreographers know that there is a blossoming dance community here. WOD is an event that hundreds of choreographers participate in and pay attention to because the teams that attend these competitions showcase their city’s level of dance experience and also provides incentive for choreographers to go to their cities to host workshops. WOD would be a platform that would allow us to show the Midwest and the US that Indy has dancers too and we want to accelerate its growth.
Attending WOD Chicago in November 2017 would be a dream come true; however, we have a long way to go before that dream can become our reality. And this is where we really need your help.
To go to WOD Chicago, it would require Xiphos Corps to take a competitive team of roughly 35 members. That is a lot bodies to get uniforms for, to provide hotel rooms for, and to transport to Chicago, Illinois.
Our executive board sat down and number crunched for a week straight. We came up with a grand total of $5,000 needed in order to purchase full outfits for this competition, transportations costs, lodging costs, and competitive fees.
We understand that this is a large sum of money, so if you would be willing to sponsor one of these categories or a portion of one of these categories it would help Xiphos tremendously. We currently have $1,000 saved up from having members pay dues and selling merchandise; however, $1,000 is nowhere near enough. November 12th is quickly approaching so any funds that you would be able to provide to our organization would be incredibly appreciated.
If you would be willing to help our organization reach our dream, we would be willing to also give back in return. We host free monthly intensive workshops and love to put on performances so if you are interested in having us come to one of your events or you want to come and hangout with our dancers, PLEASE COME! We want to expand the dance scene here in the Midwest and anything that you can do to help us do that would be greatly appreciated.
