Ximena’s heart surgery

It is difficult for me to talk about Ximena’s heart condition; especially since she had a heart surgery 6 years ago. No one expects to hear that your 24-year-old daughter has a severe heart valve complication. She went through a lot with that surgery, and we thought the worst was behind us.

Two days ago, and to my surprise, my son called me to let me know that Ximena has pneumonia, and that she was going to stay in the hospital for a couple of days. The Doctors did not let me see her because I have the flu, and they did not want me near my daughter until I get well.

Although Ximena has pneumonia, I did not expect to hear that the doctors found that she is suffering of heart failure “GOD NOT AGAIN”.

To make things worse, hers is a life-threatening condition; an Acute heart failure in which the heart is unable to do its job. Ximena’s heart is still beating, but it cannot deliver enough oxygen to meet the body's needs. The doctors also explained that Ximena requires emergency medical care to keep her alive.

Tomorrow, July 1st is Ximena’s birthday, she will be 30 years old. She is smart, caring, and loving. Despite her health condition she is about to graduate from SAC in Associates in Child Development, this is a huge accomplishment for my daughter considering that only 20% of girls with her syndrome are college students.
