Brother in Blue

Lieutenant Tom Kifer of the Colonial Heights VA police department suffered a life altering Heart attack on 11-23-2018. The recovery has been difficult and very slow. He is not a normal case for rehabilitation given his 6'8 frame, most normal equipment such as wheel chairs and lifts are not designed for larger individuals and insurance will not help with modified equipment and calls it a "luxury item".   After 32 years of public service multiple awards including "best police officer in the tri-cities -2004 by patriot newspaper" "Meritorious civilian duty" by the DOD and several others. Many years of fundraising to help others in need and selflessly placing himself on the front lines.
  Sadly there is no support for his situation, his position on the force comes to a close this month, insurance will no longer be a luxury, rather a benefit only suitable for the up and coming heroes. The support and camaraderie once shared amongst brothers is now forgotten, the late nights on the streets attempting to make the city safer, just a memory. 
 We rely on law enforcement in our most crucial and toughest times to be there for us, and they are... and now in the worst time LT. Kifer has or will ever face in his life it seems almost impossible for him to afford and get the equipment he needs to help him through his darkest hour. I ask this, does this man not deserve the luxury of a wheel chair that he can fit in, or a ramp to get in and out of the house. Any money raised for this cause will be used to purchase those items and hopefully be able to expand the doorway that is only 32 inches wide. Thanks so much for reading this and God bless...
