My 36 year old son is fighting more than anyone should have to fight. He has been a brittle diabetic since he was 14. Several months ago his kidneys started to fail. This is due to the diabetes and the fact that he's had hypertension that has been very hard to control. He has recently been in the process of a kidney transplant and his Aunt is a perfect match. Things were looking better. During this time the right side of his neck swelled up. After some test it is swollen lymph nodes. A fine needle biopsy was done along with extensive blood work and it all came back good. Then he went to the Ears Nose and Throat Dr. He wanted to remove a lymph node to do a more intense biopsy. With all this going on he was being put on peritoneal dialysis which requires a tube catheter being surgically put into his abdomen. Being that anesthesia is hard on kidneys the 2 surgeons agreed to do the catheter and lymph node simultaneously. Well the biopsy came back positive for Hodgkins lymphoma. Cancer.
So there goes the kidney transplant. After more testing it is stage 4 and in his bone marrow.
We now are going to be seeing a specialist that is a couple hours away from our home to figure out how he is going to be treated with all the other things he has going on.
His dad, step-mom, step-dad and I decided a month ago he needed to quit working. His neuropathy is so bad and fluctuating low spells put him and others in danger. He was physically and mentally exhausted and needed to focus on his health.
He's been a hard worker since he was 13 and being succumbed to our help is also very upsetting. He has been denied disability twice.
We have been financially capable of making Rick's ends meet however the road ahead of us is going to be a little more than we can handle.
We want to get him everything we can to help him fight and beat this. Please share this so others can get on board to.....
