Fellow NYCC classmates and friends,
I have set up this funding page to help a dear friend, college classmate, and colleague durring what is a disasterous time post hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
Xenia has both her children in college here in the states and was sending them their living expenses on a monthly budgeted basis. As you know there is not only no water and minimal food supplies but the power grid is completely destroyed. Without power she and most people on the island will not be able to work or have access to any active economic functions. This also has left Xenia and her husband with no way to get their children the funds they need to get by month to month while in school. She has only been able to call her daughter twice since the storm and the last call came in yesterday at 4am as it was the only time she could get a signal. During this call she asked her daughter to call me and ask if I could help. As expected she said she needs help and would pay me back but with all the economic difficulties that she will inevitably incur I though it better to raise funds and just help. I have made an initial transfer of funds to get them over the hump but I thought it would be great for all of us to share in this great cause.
I set a goal that I think would help offset the costs to take care of her children for the next few months here in the states and I will keep everyone updated as to how the funds were distributed.
