Help Steve Get Back on His Feet

Donation protected
Meet my friend, Steve, and his wife, Jen.  I’ve known Steve for seven years.  We worked together.   He was the “go-to” guy for anything in the office that needed fixing.   Steve was also the “go-to” guy for many households in the communities in and around where we lived and worked.  He fixed plumbing, rebuilt walls, fixed doors, performed minor electrical repairs and installations, cut grass, trimmed bushes, shoveled snow; pretty much whatever needed to be done.

Earlier this month Steve was driving and his truck was hit by a driver being chased by local police on what is called a high-speed chase.   His truck was totaled, and he incurred six broken ribs, torn tendons, and severe bruising; just enough to keep him from performing physical labor for what’s expected to be a couple of months.

It's important to know that Steve is a helping person.  When Steve left our employer, he started his own business and has grown that business over the last three years.  He utilizes the skills (and has done so since the beginning) of individuals experiencing homelessness that he has come to know through a local organization. The money these individuals earn and the additional skills they learn help them to rebuild their lives beyond living in shelters and subsidized housing.  Through this employment relationship, Steve has mentored many individuals.

Most recent they have been rehabbing houses for various investors in the community.    Because of this accident and injuries , he has lost his current rehab job as the investor (understandably) needs to complete the rehab quickly to protect his investment.

Steve’s insurance coverage is basic covering most of his medical expenses, but his loss of income and loss of work vehicle are a huge setback.  His wife, Jen, works but there is just not enough money to cover everything not covered by medical, pay their monthly bills and purchase a new “used” vehicle.  He retrieved most, but not all, of his tools from the damaged truck so money to replace tools is needed as well.

Please consider a donation to help Steve get back on his feet.  We are hoping to raise $15,000 to coverage living expenses while he is laid up and to purchase a replacement "used" truck.
