Help IBWPPI Help the Haitian People!

“Help us help the Haitian people.”
-Barbara A. Perkins, President/CEO
International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute (IBWPPI)
The August 2021 Earthquake in Haiti...We have all seen the images of devastation, struggle, and despair, but they don’t remain in the headlines and news cycles for long—though the pain, need and misery persist.
IBWPPI has activated its Boots on the Ground (BOTG) Initiative in response to the devastation brought by the earthquake that struck the south of Haiti on August 14, 2021. The BOTG Initiative provides emergency response bags and financial support for survivors of natural disasters in the US and abroad and ongoing financial support to organizations that produce programming for women and girls.

Through our Boots on the Ground Initiative launched in 2010, we have a direct line to Haiti’s most impacted communities; and we have vetted advocates whose mission it is every day to provide the help needed for Haitian people. Our intention is to avoid the grave mishaps of 2010 when resources, supplies and money poured into the country, but were slow to reach those with the greatest needs, if at all. This intention informed our work, and the result is the positive impact we see in the lives of those we have served.

Today, we ask for your help once again. Funds are urgently needed. We can help families and small businesses in the south impacted by the August 14th earthquake who are in dire need of shelter or basic life needs and women with small businesses get back on their feet. Cities across the United States such as Miami, New York, and Boston as well as countries such as the Bahamas, are finding ways to create space for these newly arrived immigrants, but it is not easy. IBWPPI simply wants to do our small part.

What we need most is financial resources. We are committed to doing our part in making sure the urgent needs are amplified and addressed. With your help we can do even more.
OUR GOAL
Raise $50,0000 to provide emergency response bags with supplies for families, financial support for survivors of the Aug 14th earthquake and to establish a resource call center that is staffed with language speakers who can direct families and individuals to help and other resources.
How will the funds collected be used?
Your donation will be used for:
purchasing the bags, rain boots, socks, disposable dust masks, tarp, gloves, feminine hygiene items, rain ponchos, communication device (phone or radio), water, nonperishable food items, first aid kit, emergency whistle, blanket, light stick, paper goods, hand sanitizer, monetary gift cards.
No gift given from the heart is too small to have an impact.
IBWPPI has a proven record of providing humanitarian and people to people support—not only to women and families in other countries, but also right here in the U.S.

Thank you, in advance, for helping us to help the Haitian people.
