In my mind, everyone who comes across this page will know me, but that probably won't be the case. So, for those who don't - Hi! I'm Robin. I live in Leeds, and I work with young LGBTQ+ people & their families, and train professionals to be better at working with them. I like being outside, reading, and playing my guitar (will sing for my supper).
Long story short, I'm non-binary and I want to take off my shirt in public. I'm coming up to three years on the Leeds Gender Identity Clinic waiting list. I've taken a long time to consider top surgery, and, now I know I want it to happen, I'm looking for a little help raising the amount I need.
I expect the surgery - including referrals and consultations, a bit of travel and an overnight stay - to cost somewhere in the region of £8,500. I can absolutely save some of this money myself, and I'm doing my best to raise that - taking extra hours, being careful. The reality is that even with that, it's going to take me a few years to get there on my own (which would still be less time than waiting for the NHS).
I would like you to help me reduce that time, because the less time I have to spend physically and emotionally restricted, the better my life will be sooner. Hopefully, with your kindness and generosity, somewhere between now and three years from now, the money I save and the money in this fundraiser will add up and I'll be able to go ahead and say, "ta-ta!" to my tatas.
