Help My Dad Walk Again

This is my dad Mike. He is a father of three. He lives in Houston, Texas with my mom and little brother. In November of 2017, Mike had his right leg amputated due to diabetes. The amputation was below his knee. His doctors said learning to walk again with a prosthetic would have been a lot harder if they had amputated above the knee. We were fortunate in this regard.


Mike has made great strides in improving his health and manage his diabetes. After 40 years of smoking he has quit, permanently. His diet is almost all vegetable base now. “He misses carbs, especially rice.” His physical training has been going well and he is getting stronger everyday, but there have been setbacks. In March of 2018 Mike had about two more inches of his right leg amputated due to infection. While recovering in the hospital, he had a small heart attack. He had emergency open heart surgery and a catheter was inserted to unclog his arteries. There are still complications but he seems to be improving.


Our savings and funds are running low and we desperately need help. This fund has been set up to pay for his medical bills, rehab, doctor visits and eventually for his prosthetic leg.
