Fighting For Hope

No one ever imagines there little baby is gunna go through something awful in their lifetime. As parents we try to keep our babies as protected and safe as we can. Unfortunately life had other plans for Hope McCallum. This 5 year old spitfire is the most caring, loving and kindhearted girl. She is also way too smart for her age! ☺️ 5 going on 13! We started noticing something just wasn't quite right about 3 weeks ago. Hope would sleep a lot more then normal. A normal thing for a child like jumping off a couch would make Hope scream and cry in agony. The biggest change we noticed was her skin. It was as pale as paper and her lips pale with a tinge of blue. Looking at her you'd think she was a ghost. Hope has always been a fair skinned and tiny girl. But something just wasn't quite right. Hope, already a teeny girl, started to lose some weight. Everyday she would look just a little bit worse. One day her skin started to turn an even more worrisome colour. There was a slight tinge of yellow. Time to go to the Emergency Room!! Amanda McCallum (Hopes Mom) watched in slow motion as nurses took blood and poked and prodded at her little 5 year old girl. When the doctor came in Amanda knew something wasn't right. The doctor walked in with a look upon his face. He slowly closed the door behind him with tears in his eyes. The next words that came out of his mouth were heart dropping. "I'm so sorry, we believe Hope has Leukemia". Every other word after "Leukemia" went in one ear and out the other. Tears flowed down this mother's face like a waterfall. Her babygirl, little Hope, has Cancer and she felt helpless. It's going to be a long 2 1/2 years travelling from Brockville ON, our home town, to Kingston General Hospital for Chemo treatments.
