Dana's road to recovery

Hi, this is Pamela and Matt Becker, raising funds for Dana Mehler, Jen Neufeld and Jack.

As a lot of you already know Dana had a double lung transplant in 2017. He wasn't feeling himself and ended up in the Swift Current Hospital Sunday January 28, 2024. The delay in here contacting his Transplant team resulted in him being Airlifted by Stars to Calgary. He arrived in Calgary on Wednesday January 31st after an overnight stay in Regina. Both trips taken by Stars.

Swift Current sedated and intubated him on January 30th and Calgary kept sedation on until February 3 when they fully weened him off of it and took his tube out.

Dana has Jen by his side in Calgary. Jack is with Jens family here in Swift Current.

Dana is still in ICU in Calgary, hoping to get moved to a different bed soon, getting better each day but will still be a while until home as that is where his Transplant team is and the safest place for him while he recuperates.

Dana has been on disability since his transplant. Jen is self employed doing lashes and spraytans which she cannot offer until she is home.

We are raising funds to help cover their monthly expenses as the first of the month has come and gone and will be here again sooner than later with February being the shortest month of the year.

We also want to take the time to acknowledge and thank Stars for getting Dana to where he needed to be from the start of his illness. Jen was told he could not be taken by ambulance as no ambulance could store enough oxygen to get him to Calgary, at one point he was at 90%.
