WWII book

I need to raise $15,000 to cover travel costs for my research into the Second World War. It is critical that I meet in person with every veteran I interview. There is no way of truly understanding the life, experience, and persona of these incredible people over a phone call.

Why so much money? These individuals are located all over the world. It requires tremendous personal effort simply to locate and contact them, but actually reaching them is quite expensive as well. It is money which I do not have, and it is not as if I can put this off for a few years until I have saved sufficient funds.

I have already completed a great number of journeys, including extremely productive trips to the Pacific Northwest and Japan, which were almost entirely fundraised by generous  donors. Upcoming journeys include visits to  California and Germany  where I will conduct further research. 

I am writing a book about veterans of the Second World War, interviewing remarkable individuals from nations across the world whose life experiences and actions carry profound lessons for all people. I seek out specific individuals, travel to them, and interview them. To date, I have interviewed twenty veterans, including Senator Bob Dole, Medal of Honor recipients, and several Japanese veterans. These journeys have taken me as far as Tokyo, Japan.

I spend countless hours researching remarkable individuals whose lives were shaped by the Second World War. It takes weeks and sometimes months of planning to organize trips, where I meet face to face with veterans and learn about the qualities and challenges of their lives. I document their stories, so that when they are no longer with us, their personalities and virtues will remain as a lesson to future generations. This project is not just about documenting history, it is about learning from greatness.
