It was back in 2000 when whole America was celebrating their Independence Day. And to this day I am so grateful to all the saints that we happened to be at the same place, the same restaurant.
Even now I can hear that crazy loud laughter of hers that drilled through everyone's ears. I definitely can say she was (and still is) the loudest person I know but dear God I love her. When she laughs the whole world laughs with her.
We both were au-pairs living in America so far from home. My home was in Latvia, hers - in Italy. I was 21, she was 19. We became best friends and still are to this day.
This is not story about me but about her - Claudia or Yaya as many of us call her. I honestly can say that Claudia is one of the very few people I know who has the biggest and kindest heart. She is so passionate about making this world a better place for us all. So passionate fighting against injustice, fighting for the rights of animals, fighting for making this world plastic free. All she does - gives gives gives and NEVER asks anything in return. So full of life, love and kindness.
On 11th September her life was turned upside down. She was coming back from work. It was dark. There was a car accident...
She run across the autostrada to help the children who were trapped in a car.
I can't go into too much detail as it won't be a pretty read but I can say that to save Claudia's life they had to amputate her right leg well above her knee.
This is a page my husband and I started to help her. This will be a platform for us all to chip in with how little/much we can and want, and every single penny/cent/dollar will go towards her prosthetic leg.
It will be a long process, with lots of ups and downs but I believe together we can do it.
Love you, my girl. We will do it!!! We will be dancing again!
