Veritas Wuhan Relief Team

My name is Abigail Elgut I am from the Fairfax area and I currently work for Veritas Collegiate Academy. As you are all aware, the deadly Coronavirus is continuing to spread throughout China, and beyond.  Veritas has a number of campuses in China, and so we, as a school community, are personally affected by this health crisis. Due to the quarantines in China, a number of our Chinese students attending  school in the U.S. were not able to leave China to return after the Spring Festival. Additionally, the students on our campuses there (Shenzen, Kunshan, and Beijing), cannot return to school, and many are confined to their homes until the health crisis is over. We have hundreds of students and families in China who need our help. Receiving these items will greatly reduce their risk of receiving this virus and in turn, will aid others by not spreading their symptoms. 

The greatest need right now in China, and specifically the city of Wuhan (at the epicenter of the crisis), is to help Chinese health care workers in their effort to contain the virus with protective gear: hospital coveralls, protective goggles, and respirator masks. As a school community, and as a Facebook Community, I am asking all of our families, friends  and connections to please consider donating, so that we may purchase and send these items to Wuhan, Shenzhen, and other cities affected by this virus. Currently, our partners in Budapest and Jakarta are assisting, and providing resources. In particular, Baptist Aid, One of the largest Christian organizations in the country of Hungary, has as one of its mandates, humanitarian relief. We will be sending 100% of this money to Hungarian Baptist Aid Respond 24.  We will be wiring 100% of the funds to Bella Szilagyi, the leader of Hungarian Baptist Aid. Additionally, our partners in Jakarta Indonesia, will be assisting the Respond 24 team and sending supplies there as well. I,  Abigail Elgut, will be responsible for withdrawing the money into my bank account, and transferring this money I have received directly to Bella Szilagyi.

The coronavirus is a new virus with no vaccine or treatment, and finding a vaccine will take months. These our friends, families, and loves ones. We are privileged to be able to offer some small measure of help. Please pray for them, and consider helping them.
