Friday, February 12th was just an ordinary Friday night for Janice. She was sitting on the couch watching TV when the back and leg pains started. Janice attempted to stand up to get to the phone when her legs gave out & she fell to the floor. Soon a fiery pain was shooting throughout her lower body in what she describes as, "the worst pains she's ever endured." This topped all of her 5 heart valve replacement surgeries and even child birth. EMS was immediately called and she was rushed to Floyd Memorial.
Finally after 36 hours of waiting through immense pain and what we now know was total paralysis of her lower extremities, a test she needed was conducted, and a blood clot was found hiding in her innermost spinal cavity. Emergency back surgery was performed with little to no hope of her ever regaining her ability to feel or walk again.
Currently we have found ourselves needing as much financial help as possible. Because Medicare provides very little financial, medical and in home after care assistance to help her on her road to recovery, even after we liquidate all of her assets we will still need tens of thousands of dollars to properly care for Janice. Currently Janice resides at the Friendship Health & Rehab in LaGrange, Kentucky. Very soon Janice’s Medicare approved rehab stay will be over. Because Janice's home cannot accommodate her new disability, she will have to move into our home. Many renovations will have to take place i.e. a completely new bathroom will have to be constructed so that Janice can take showers in her wheelchair, hardwood floors will need to be installed so that she can maneuver throughout the house, doorways will need to be widened, a back door will need to be installed so that she can enter and exit the house, a wheelchair ramp will need to be installed outside the house and she will need a handicapped van so that we will be able to transport her when she wants or needs to leave the house. There are so many more things that will need to be done, but money is scarce and hard to find.
Please help us to accommodate Janice’s disability and help her to live as normal of a life as someone possibly can when bound to a wheelchair indefinitely. ANY donations big or small will be life changing for her.
Lastly if you cannot help provide financial assistance please, please keep Janice in your prayers. We know He is with us and never once have placed any blame on Him. Instead we rely that He will help us to endure.
