10km for Florence

Tax deductible

Those of you who know me well know how close to my heart the subject of Florence Nightingale is and how over recent years I have done my best to further her legacy through education.

It was with great sadness that I discovered that the Florence Nightingale Museum in London (like many other charities and organisations) was struggling to remain open this year due to a world pandemic. The museum is a small independent charity celebrating Florence’s life and work.  Even though they are now planning to re-open during August they will still need a lot of financial help to survive and thrive in this difficult year.

“Nightingale’s legacy has never been more relevant: she founded modern nursing and instigated Wash Your Hands and cleanliness regimes. 2020 has been designated the Year of the Nurse and Midwife in honour of her bicentenary year.”                               Florence Nightingale Museum

I feel we need to preserve and celebrate the memory of this great lady.  In the last few months we have been praising our NHS heroes and angels but we still need to inspire and nurture the next generation of healthcare workers.

Therefore, my daughter and I are attempting to run 10k for Florence in August.

We are not “proper” runners but just trying to raise a little more money than our own donation for this worthy cause. If you are able to donate anything at the current time the museum, and our tired feet, would be very appreciative.  Many thanks.
