Wright Family Medical Expenses

Dialysis, Transfusions, and Scoliosis… OH MY!!

We all have life problems, and we all have times when we need help more than others.  Now is that time for the Wright family.

John (husband/father) has ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) and requires dialysis 3 days per week for 5 hours.  While he used to be able to do dialysis at home every night, that changed in November when he got a severe abdominal infection (peritonitis). He is very anemic and has had several blood transfusions. He must be followed by a hematologist. He is unable to work, so he can only bring in income from an early retirement.  He does what he can to help his family, but must tend to his health needs first and foremost.

Timi (wife/mother) works full time, volunteers around the community, and takes care of the household; all while taking care of her husband and kids.  (If you have seen a show in the Westlake High School auditorium in the last 4 years – whether it was for the high school, middle school, or community theater – Timi sold you that ticket.  She probably also sewed some of the costumes and ordered the cast/crew shirts.)  As if all of this wasn’t enough to fill anyone’s plate, there are more challenges…

Emily (middle child) has scoliosis.  Her spine has such a large curve (87 degrees) and has been wearing a brace since November 2014, she will be another 4-5 inches taller after her surgery.  While they expected she would need surgery soon, they have been told it is going to be much sooner than expected.  Instead of waiting until lives have calmed down for the summer, her curve is growing too fast to wait.  She will be having the surgery in April (or May at the latest) instead.

Of course, Taylor (oldest child) and John (youngest child) are being as supportive as kids/siblings can be, however they have their own lives that need attention.  Timi and John are doing the best they can to be there for all of them.

Everyone knows what a supportive community we have and how much they have helped others in the past.  Timi is someone you will see helping out for others when they need it.  (John would love to help, but there is only so much he can physically do.)

They would never ask for anything, but if anyone else needed it, they would be the first with a helping hand.  Please consider helping this family out in any way you can.  Any amount would be helpful.  (It adds up!)  With everything they have to worry about, we want to relieve the worry of money as much as possible.  It doesn’t make the problems go away, but it helps to focus on the important ones.
