On Thursday, 8/13/20, Jimmy Yatsko suffered a devastating heart attack. By the grace of God, he awoke from life support on Saturday but has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him. He just started his management job at Food Lion at the end of June and benefits were not in effect yet. Jim will most likely need to be in an inpatient rehab facility as his brain was deprived of oxygen for an unknown amount of time prior to the EMT's reviving his heart and intubating him. There is most likely brain damage but he is still in the ICU going through those assessments. I applied for WV Medicaid on his behalf today, but shockingly he was denied! He doesn't make much so this has us all confused and the process is time consuming and tedious. My mother and I are happy to do what we can as long as we have our son, brother, friend, and uncle alive and well. We are asking for help in the expenses for the inpatient rehab facility Meritus (in MD) is suggesting he go once deemed fit to leave the hospital. I will keep trying to figure out the Medicaid piece but any little bit will help us, along with your prayers and love. Jimmy made friends wherever he went with whomever was there.
