My name is Jacob Weldon, and I am creating the world’s longest bar crawl. I started in Lubec, Maine on August 4th and ending in San Diego near the end of October. I am traveling the entire distance with a handcycle. So far, I am over 1/3 of the way done with over 1,300 miles behind me and a mountain range. I originally was inspired to do this to become a better person, a better man, to become Blue Skies...to grow as a human being, but because I knew I would be stopping into pubs, bars, taverns, and wayward watering holes for a pint, food, and to spread some cheer and goodwill towards my fellow man, I asked Guinness if I could make this the worlds longest bar crawl. We will see!! :) Another story that helped inspired me is The Kindness Diaries. It is on Netflix and helps put belief back into humanity.
This GoFundMe will be used to make this trip easier and less dangerous. I will need food, more food and probably a million other things like spare parts, care packages, food, emergency funds, and obviously a small beer budget along with a huge food budget, etc.
I will attempt this regardless of funding. However, the more prepared I am with basics and essentials, the better the whole outcome of this venture. Reaching this funding goal will make our chances of success greater as we will have to worry less about breakdowns, hunger, starvation, poor health due to exposure to the elements, hunger, starvation, etc.
Now, I realize that I will not need to use the whole $10,000, so the rest will be donated to the Wounded Warriors Project. I didn't really intend on doing this for a charity but this trip has changed me so far and would love to find a way to give back more. So I am making this a fundraiser for WWP. And what changed was experiencing an old revolutionary war cemetery in the mountains of New Hampshire. It was very moving for me and filled me with a great sense of patriotism. I would like to help our soldiers today who put their lives and health on the line every day to help us, to protect us.
