World Villages Homes for Children

Tax deductible
I recently had the pleasure of spending the day with Angela and Daira, two of around 3,500 children at Girlstown, one of The World Villages' homes for the poorest children in Mexico City. I was deeply moved by their grace, kindness and grateful, loving hearts even though they had faced such hardship at such a young age. In a world so focused on material goods, these girls reminded me that the poorest people are those that live a life centered around themselves.

Many of these children were previously living on garbage dumps and had serious illnesses/diseases (such as malnutrition) but were found and rescued by the Sisters of Mary who organize and oversee these homes. Once at Girlstown, the children receive an outstanding education as well as learn practical skills like dressmaking, bookkeeping, electronics, computer science, culinary arts etc.

These homes for destitute children (like Girlstown) are in 15 locations in 7 countries throughout the world (Philippines, South Korea, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, Honduras, and Tanzania). The homes help break the poverty cycle as many of the children go on to college and/or get wonderful jobs to support themselves and their families. After meeting these children and hearing their remarkable stories, I promised myself that I would do what I can to support them, so any donation would be greatly appreciated!
