My beautiful Goddaughter Denise Pelayo from Gunnison, Colorado has suffered for years of severe seizures. For this reason half of her right hemisphere is destroyed. She is a very happy and sweet 16 year old teen. The great team at Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado thinks that she is perfect for Epilepsy surgery. This is only recommended if your child's seizures continue to happen while they are on multiple medications, and her seizures continue without any help of the prescribed medication. Denise Pelayo already has significant damage to the right side of the brain, which is causing her seizures. For this reason she will have surgery this coming December 15th of 2017.
She would be having a hemispherectomy surgery, this means that one of her half brain most likely will be removed. We are putting everything in God's hands, we know how difficult this is to understand because we don't know for sure if this will cause her to have weaknes or limited movement on one side of the body (Hemiparesis).
My Denise will be in the hospital for months, she will undergo very intense physical therapy, ocupational therapy, speech therapy and other medical and funtional therapies.
This fund is to help her and her family to be able to pay for medical expenses and to be able to get a bigger mobile home. They are living in a very small trailer home. The Pelayo's family live on an exceptional small and limited income which is why they can only afford to rent a small two bedroom trialer house. Denise and her others siblings all sleep together in the same bedroom, sharing beds with one another. Denise will need her own room when she is released from the hospital. Please, please help us to suport her and her family with any donation that you can make, anything will be greatly appreciated.
