Work A Day For Steve Baker

This is a deeply flawed country. That one should face financial ruin and simultaneously be deprived an income just to get healthy is not just morally wrong, it's insane. Like--Gary Busey insane. For those of you who don't know, Steve Baker has been diagnosed with a particularly nasty cancer. The doctors have told him his treatment will run roughly $3 million. Insurance will cover maybe 2 of that. To make matters worse, he's not able to work during his treatment. So not only does he have looming medical bills, but he's gotta worry about covering the mortgage. I don't think that's right. That's why myself and a few other techs are proposing the "Work A Day For Steve Baker" program. We're asking you to donate one day of work this month to Steve Baker. It could be a great, high-rate cushy day, a middle of the road strike, or even your crappiest 6am half day load-in in Tacoma. It doesn't matter. Just one day this month. This is the busiest time of the year for a lot of techs so I know it won't be too difficult to find just one measly day to give up.

      If you don't know Steve, that's okay. No one's going to shake you down for cash. But if you do know Steve, then you know that he's just about the nicest guy you could hope to meet, and the last guy that deserves to have his world ripped apart. So let's help him have some semblance of normalcy over the coming months. Sure, we can't come up with $3 million dollars. But at least we can help him keep the lights on and pay for gas and groceries. I hope you'll help. I'd do the same for you. So who's in?
