Help our family during Robert's recovery

On September 28th, Robert collapsed at our home in front of our children. He was rushed in to our closest ER where they found him to have elevated pressure in his spinal cord fluid, after hours of tests. Within 24 hours, we was being admitted to IMU on oxygen where he stayed for 11 days, undergoing test after test with no idea what had happened. After 11 days, they were able to move him to a stroke unit, and eventually he was able to come home. He suffered impact to all his limbs, his bladder and his neurological/cognitive functioning. He was sent home with a wheelchair, walker and a cane. He is currently undergoing physical therapy, and the initial diagnosis was ruled as a severe MS episode, by default, as they were unable to pin any other diagnosis to what had happened, only that it was severe and life threatening. We are still trying to stabilize his condition with steroids, which he has been unable to wean off of.

Insurance is paying his claims, leaving us with 20% owed, but his short term disability has only paid $36 total because the hospital hasn't sent his records in. I also received a bill for $888.48 that must be paid by Nov 1, or they will cancel him effective 10-7, before he even came out of the hospital. We have had zero income since September 20, 2013.

A friend suggested I set this up to help cover his insurance premium, my boys medication since we had to take them off the insurance, and groceries while we wait for him to improve and return to work, or for short term disability to kick in, and until we can insure the kids which all will take a month to months. We only know he will most likely not ever return to work in his current position and he won't work at all until he is recovered enough to work in some minimal capacity. I stay home with our two special needs children, but will be looking for work that can allow me to provide the support and physical care for my husband and kids.
