Woodchucks Underway; It Began in Boston!

Please help me give my students a field trip to remember. This is an expensive trip as students will be cruising Boston harbor enjoying the views of the various historical sites studied in their history class.
Taunton Public schools is a low income and high poverty school district. Here at JHM School, we are no exception with an extremely diverse population of approximately 220 seventh graders with one hundred percent of our student body receiving free breakfast and lunch.
We truly believe that all of our students deserve multiple opportunities as diverse and unique as they are.
"Academic excellence for every student, in every classroom, in every school", is the Taunton Public Schools' motto in which we firmly believe.
Students will map out on historical maps, the Siege of Boston. Then using documents provided, students will provide a summary of events of the siege using primary source document references.
Students will then write an essay speculating how the residents of Boston and nearby towns recovered from the siege.
Students will also create "talking points" (pros and cons) on the reliability of these documents. Students will use their points to debate the sources' value in a historical perspective.
Finally, a historical scavenger hunt will be conducted on maps during the historical cruise around the Boston Harbor. Upon their return to school, students will discuss whether their visiting of these historical sites helps develop "historical habits of mind."
