I am raising money for my friend CJ. She is a hard working, dedicated woman who invests in middle school kids...that's right MIDDLE SCHOOL. You know the ones - hormonal, FULL of energy, awkward, too honest, not quite children yet not quite young adults. The ones in the middle. She loves them, in fact, she adores them! While parents are speeding out of the parking lot, she is running towards them with a smile, a hug, a word of encouragement. She WANTS to serve them and she is darn good at it.
Why give to her fund? This year she lost $20,000 in funding. That's a lot of money when you just got married and already have a ton of student debt. She didn't lose heart...in fact she got 2 MORE jobs to bridge the gap. So...she is a full time Associate Youth Director, a full time student, a Starbucks Barista and a Pampered Chef sales person.

My name is CJ Harris, I am the Associate Youth Director at Sammamish Presbyterian Church. I have just completed my first year doing full-time ministry with middle school and high school students. It’s incredible to even say that, because I fought so hard to get to this life that I’m living. God called me seven years ago to pursue youth ministry when I first became a Christian. But to do that, I needed the education. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry/Christian Education at Northwestern College and I'm in my fifth year pursuing my Masters in Divinity at Western Theological Seminary. I truly had to fight many battles to be where I am and one of the battles came with student loan debt. I started this school year with $100,000 in school debt and to finish my last two years, it costs another $20,000. Together with my husband, we made the difficult decision to finish school knowing this. After taking on two additional jobs, I am realizing that I’m not Wonder Woman and realistically I can only take on one more job. And I will continue to fight. I love my students, my church, and most important my God who I have put all my trust in.
