Wompey Family Support Fund

On January 30th, 2020, Tim and Elizabeth Wompey were in a catastrophic car accident on the way home from Denver International Airport.  Tim was picking up his daughter to attend the funeral of his mother (her grandmother) the next day.

Tim suffered very serious injuries including broken ribs, sternum, pelvis, ankle and internal bleeding.  Further examination showed a spinal injury which was stabilized in a 4.5 hour surgery.  Two additional surgeries have been necessary for other medical issues.

Elizabeth has a traumatic brain injury including a brain bleed which is supposed to be corrected with time.  Elizabeth also suffered a broken pelvis, femur, tibia, heel, ankle and punctured lung.  She’s had extensive surgery on her leg so far.  Both are still in ICU and face a very long road to recovery.

Tim’s wife and Elizabeth’s Mom, Tori, is facing her own ongoing challenge with Multiple Sclerosis and is hoping to walk again someday.  Tim, Elizabeth and son/brother John were Tori’s main support system and now they all need our help.

Tim is a Jeffco school teacher and volleyball coach and Elizabeth is an NCAA-D1 swimmer at Youngstown State University in Ohio majoring in Special Education.  Tori spent her career prior to her disability at the Denver District Attorney’s Office and John is finishing up high school and is a talented photo/videographer.  This is a family that has dedicated their careers and lives to helping others and it’s now time for their community to pitch in and return the love.

Insurance will cover some of the expenses but the family will need help with deductibles and future treatment might exceed coverage.  There will also be lengthy in home care and physical therapy, possible modifications to their remaining vehicle, transportation, and other support we can’t yet envision.
