Women's Resource Center of the NRV

As many of you know, my girlfriend Torey passed away about a week and a half ago. She was a passionate advocate for women's empowerment, especially in regards to gender-based violence, sexual assault, and domestic abuse. For my birthday, I'd absolutely love it if we could honor Torey's life and legacy by contributing, in some way or another, to helping the Women's Resource Center of the New River Valley.

The Women's Resource Center of the NRV provides Emergency Advocacy and Emergency Shelter for victims of sexual and domestic abuse, as well as counseling services. If we meet our goal, together we could provide for FOUR emergency outreach visits to support and inform adult/child victims in the time immediately following an assult. The funds could also go towards Peaceline presentations in local middle/high schools, that educate the next generations on the importance of safety and respect in relationships, family, and communities. They could also go towards supplying the Shelter Pantry for those settling into the Emergency Shelters or Transitional Housing.

Regardless of how much you decide to donate or if you don't decide to donate, please share this post and consider the importance of prevention, awareness, outreach, and the proper resources for victims of abuse, of any kind. Please also consider supporting or reaching out to someone who was a victim of abuse, or even just reaching out to someone you don't know very well, or any old friend you've lost touch with. A little compassion here and there can go a long way, more than most people would think. Almost everyone has been through some sort of inner struggle, or is currently trying to work through something. The little bit of compassion that seems menial for you to give, could make a huge difference in their day, and even their lives. Given the world we live in, no one should have to go through life alone. Thank you for your time - any contribution, no matter how small, is extremely appreciated.
