Women on Bikes - Empowerment project in Tanzania

Donation protected
Hello everyone!

We are One Bike Tanzania, a social enterprise based in Moshi, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
We run cultural-adventure cycling tours in Northern Tanzania and a bike repair shop in Moshi. We promote sustainable tourism and empower our community through education, environmental awareness, professional inclusion and health.

And today, we need your support!

The Women on Bikes project: the story of how bicycles can empower women

In Tanzania, transport is a crucial issue for most rural people. It is expensive and unreliable, so people walk enormous distances to go from one place to another, preventing them from accessing certain services and opportunities.

This is even more true for women, who are the heart of every Tanzanian family. They cook, care for the children, wash the clothes, clean the house and go to the market. With everything they have to do and the lack of transport, they simply have no time to do anything else, preventing them from truly being independent.

This is why we started our "Women on Bikes" project. To empower women living in Kilimanjaro's rural areas by donating them bicycles. In 2021, we donated 10 bicycles thanks to our 5-day MTB cycling event, "Tour de Kili" which helped us raise awareness and finance the bicycles we donated.

We visited these women recently and collected their testimony, so feel free to look at the video above and learn how these bicycles impacted the life of the women.

2022 - We need your help!

This year, we aim big; our goal is to donate at least 20 bicycles!

But to do so, we need you!

5 bicycles = 1 million Tanzania shillings (500$). So if we reach our target, we can already donate 15 bikes!!

So if you wish to support our projects and make a difference in Kilimanjaro, feel free to support us by donating and/or sharing with people that you know!

Any help is welcome; every dollar is one step closer to achieving our goal and empowering more women!

Thank you so much for those who will contribute and for the others who just took the time to read this long text!

Special thank you to our partners:
Thank you to our partners that make this donation possible!
Thank you to ABC (Arusha Bike Centre) Impact, which helps us to get the bicycles.
Thank you to Tatu Project, our new partner for this 2022 edition which will provide business training to the women that got the bicycles.
